TEMPUS by KRISTIN DRAKE

Time is precarious. It can appear to be painfully endless or swift like a tidal wave. All we have is time until it has been depleted. This work represents moments in time. Fleeting, passing, cyclical, dissipated, captured, time. Moments that were, and then were not. It is an expression of the subconscious through automatism and gestural mark making. Mixed media is used to build and layer, or one medium is applied in singular, sweeping motions. Both are actions of tension and release, capturing moments in time.

Kristin studied Fine Art at Metropolitan State Denver, working under Craig Marshall Smith, EC Cunningham, and Sandy Lane, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002. She has since continued her evolution as an artist while also fostering a career in Interior Design.
